Engagement Party Invitations!

I used a template a fellow Knottie gave me (Thanks Tara & Elise). This is my mock-up. I'm having 10 printed with a linen finish by Vista Print for FREE. I'll send one to my mom to approve and then any changes that need to be made will be made and I'll have them printed. So far so good.

Painted Letters

I found these letters at a Goodwill in Florida while visiting my parents. They were .19 cents each and already painted white. Not sure if I will paint over them, do a design or keep them white.

I bought all the above supplies at Michaels. Paint was on sale 2 for $1.00. The brushes and letters I had 40% off coupons for. In total we are at about $5.00 total for this project for the paint, brushes, wood letters and white wood letters.

I started painting the naked wood ones last night. They will probably need several coats of the navy paint. Not sure what I will use them all for. My ideas are to hang them with ribbon from somewhere/something. Perhaps the church doors, or maybe the cake table or something like that. Stay tuned for pictures as the project progresses.

New Addition to the Family!

Meet Foley! We adopted him this past Monday night from a rescure group. He is about 10-12 months old. Foley is the chocolate pup on the right. Casey, the yellow pup on the left will be turning 12 YEARS old this summer. Eric has had her since she was two. So far the two are getting a long great. Foley is just a sweet little guy and we couldn't be more happy to have him as a part of our family.

Let the Wedding DIY Projects Begin!

I found these great Nantucket wine bottle baskests at Christmas Tree Shops. I thought they would be perfect to use as some decor on each table and to functionally hold wine bottles at ourWelcome dinner. We want to keep the decor simple, so this will be a nice little touch. I removed the Christmas ribbon and bells and put on some ribbon to match our wedding colors and will add and star fish or sand dollar to each. I only bought 4 of them, but in total, the project probably cost me about $20-25 and it will be a nice touch to the tables. I wish I had bought more!

Date is Set!

We set our wedding date with the Church yesterday! May 20, 2010 (It's a Thursday!). I may have to make a t-shirt that says that since everyone seems to need to tell me it's a Thursday as if I made a mistake. No mistake. We are hoping on the new trend to make Thursday the new Saturday night!
The date is set, the church is reserved, now we have to come up with Plan A, B & C for the reception. We've got plan A. I'm working on Plan B & C. I'm also working on finding a photographer that is within our budget, but that just doesn't seem to be possible at the moment.

I'm in the process of asking my girls to be in my bridal party. I have going to have a Matron of Honor, and two bridesmaids. I wanted them to feel really special and to also get them on board with the DW idea and feel. Each one will recieve a boat tote, embroidered with their initial, and in the tote is a candle in a beachy sent, lip balm in their favorite drink flavor, an ornament with their initial and a card from me. In their card I also let them know that their accomodations for the week or however many days they can stay will be taken care of. Here is a picture of the final product:

I bought the bags from Ebay Seller: MagicalMonograms/ www.magicalmonograms.com, the lip balm came from Graham-Caswell www.gcdspa.com. Both were great to work with and I hope to buy from them again!

I am obviously not so great at keeping my blog. It is now January, and I haven't posted since September! What's new? Eric and I are officially engaged, since October. We are planning a scouting trip to the Outer Banks over Easter weekend to check out lots of places and get ideas.

We are hoping to be able to get married on either May 20th or May 21st 2010.

In the meantime, i've been working on lots of little planning ideas. I'm also going to delve into making my own cards for some friends to get used to making things in the hopes of being able to do that for my wedding. I have a bunch of birthdays coming up, as well as some new babies on the way and then also my friends Bachelorette and another friends baby shower. Hopefully the craft gods are able to work with me.

I haven't yet asked my bridal party, but will be putting the final touches on how I'm going to ask them this weekend and then hopefully I can remember to post about it.

So check back.
